Chocolate Snappers

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 3/4 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
Additional sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and the sugar. Add the egg and beat well. Add the flour, cocoa, corn syrup, oil, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well. Shape by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Roll in the sugar. Place on greased bakking sheets. Bake at 350 F for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on wire racks. Makes 5 dozen
