Gingerbread Cookies
Gingerbread Cookies
1 cup soft butter
1 cup molasses
3 tsp ginger
1/2 cup cold tea
1 cup sugar
5 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
Cream together the butter and the sugar until light. Beat in the molasses. In another bowl, combine the flour, ginger, baking soda, salt, and cloves. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the 1/2 cup cold tea. Add the vanilla. Mix well. Chill for at least 24 hours. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the cookie sheets and cool on wire racks. Decorate as you wish or eat just plain.
