Sausage and Cheese Grits Casserole
Sausage and Cheese Grits Casserole
4 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup Quick Grits
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cup milk
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 (12 oz) packages maple flavored pork sausage
HEAT oven to 350. Spray a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish with no-stick cooking spray;set aside.
HEAT water, butter and salt in heavy 2-qt saucepan over high heat until mixture comes to a boil. Stir in grits. Reduce heat; simmer 15 minutes or until grits are creamy, stirring occasionally.
STIR in 1 cup Cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese until cheese is melted. Stir in milk and eggs.
BROWN sausage in 10-inch skillet. Drain; stir sausage into grits. Pour into prepared dish.
BAKE 1 hour or until knife inserted comes out almost clean. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top. Bake an additional 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
