Fudgy Macaroon Bars
Fudgy Macaroon Bars
4 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened
chocolate
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs, lightly beaten
For The Filling:
3 cups flaked coconut
1 can (14 ozs.) sweetened condensed
milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
For The Topping:
1 cup (6 ozs.) semisweet chocolate
chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In a mcrowave, melt the chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth. Remove from the heat. Cool slightly. Stir in the sugar, flour, salt, vanilla, and eggs. Spread half of the batter into a greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish. In a large bowl, combine the filling ingredients. Spoon over the chocolate layer. Carefully spread the remaining chocolate mixture over the filling.
Bake at 350 F for 35-40 minutes or until the sides pull away from the pan. Immediately sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Allow the chips to soften for a few minutes. Spread over the bars. Sprinkle with the walnuts. Cool completely before cutting.
