Candy Topped Bars

1 cup flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cold butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 pkg. (8 ozs.) cream cheese,
softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 to 1 cup "M&M's" miniature
baking bits

In a large bowl, combine the flour and the brown sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the pecans. Set aside 1/2 cup for topping. Press the remaining crumb mixture into a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and the sugar. Add the egg, milk, lemon juice, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour over the warm crust. Sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture. Makes 16 servings
