Simple sage stuffing for a large turkey. Everyone loves Mom's stuffing and its not a secret.... no meat, no fruit, nothing fancy and they love it more every year
fry in butter or in bacon grease till transluscent
3-4 cups celery
3 extra large onions
2 loaves white bread (preferably day old)
break up into irregular 1" pieces
4-6 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
2-3 tbs sage (
2-3 tbs parsley
salt and pepper
I like a very moist stuffing, one you can slice the next day for sandwiches if you need it any wetter you can add a little water or more eggs
I salt the interior of the turkey and stuff it till I think it will explode... it never does....
note: to avoid salmonella make your stuffing and stuff the bird while the mixture is still warm. Never stuff the turkey the day before. Internal temperature of turkey when done cooking should be 165*
