Nutty Orange Snowballs
Nutty Orange Snowballs
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
1 tsp grated orange peel
1/2 tsp orange extract
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
In a large bowl, cream the butter and 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the orange peel and the extracts. Combine the flour and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in the nuts. Shape into 3/4 inch balls. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 F. for 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. Place the remaining confectioners' sugar in a large resealable plastic bag. Add the cookies, a few at a time. Shake to coat. Store in an airtight container. Makes 3 dozen
