Cabbage Soup
1/2 to 3/4 pound ground beef
1 onion, sliced
2 cups chicken or beef broth
3 cups tomato juice
1 (11 oz.) can cream of tomato soup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
5-6 cups shredded or diced cabbage
Salt and freshly-ground black pepper to taste
Saute ground beef in large pot over medium-high heat until browned, 5 minutes.
Add onion and cook until translucent, 5 minutes. Add broth, tomato
juice, tomato soup, garlic powder, sugar, cabbage and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until cabbage is very tender, about 20 to 30 minutes. 8 servings
