Almond Sugar Cookies


1 C butter or margarine softened
1 1/2 C. confectioner' s sugar
1 egg lightly beaten
1 t. vanilla extract
1 t. almond extract
2 1/2 C. all purpose flour
red decorators sugar optional


In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extract. Stir in flour; mix well. Chill several hours. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4" thickness; cut with 2 1/2 - 3" heart shaped cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheets; sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
