Buttery Almond Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar, divided
2 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup chopped almonds

In a small bowl, cream the butter and 1/2 cup confectioners sugar. Add the flour and the vanilla. Mix well. Stir in the almonds. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 13-16 minutes or until the bottomes are golden brown and the cookies are set. Cool for 1-2 minutes before removing to the wire racks to cool completely. Roll in the remaining powdered sugar. Makes about 4 dozen
