Molasses Sugar Cookies
Molasses Sugar Cookies
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cloves
Additional sugar
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, oil, and molasses. Add the egg. Mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and cloves. Add to the sugar mixture. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or until easy to handle. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in additional sugar. Place 3 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 F for 7 to 9 minutes or until the tops are cracked and the edges are set. Cool for 2 to 3 minutes before removing from the pans to wire racks to cool.
