Chocolate Chip-Peanut Butter Squares

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 roll (16.5 oz. refrigerated chocolate chips cookies

Heat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, peanut butter, and vanilla with a spoon until well blended. Cut the cookie dough in half crosswise. In an ungreased 8 or 9 inch square pan, break up half of the dough. With floured fingers, press the dough evenly in the bottom of the pan. Press the peanut butter mixture evenly over the dough. Crumble and sprinkle remaining half of the dough over the peanut butter mixture. Carefully spread as evenly as possible. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch. Cool in the pan on a cooling rack for 30 minutes. Refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour. Makes 12 bars
