Windmill Cookie Bars
Windmill Cookie Bars
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, separated
2 cups flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup slivered almonds
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolk. Combine the flour, cinnamon, and baking soda. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Press into a greased 15 x 10 inch baking pan. Lightly beat the egg white. Brush over the dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Cut into bars. Cool completely. Makes 2 1/2 dozen
