BISCUITS LIKE CRACKER BARREL
Makes 8-10 biscuits

2 cups flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup Crisco

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease a baking sheet.

Mix together til crumbly. Make a well with your thumbs in the center
of the mound.

Dissolve 1/8 tsp. baking soda in 3/4 cup buttermilk and pour into the
well. Mix all completely into a dough and knead until smooth and
elastic. Pat out 1 inch thick and put into 3 inch rounds. Shape into
muffins and place on a greased sheet. Brush with an egg wash before
baking.

Bake 450 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until golden.
